2020-03-05 17:00:39

In January 2020 before the Spring Festival, the covid-19 outbreak completely disrupted our usual life. Though we were separated in distance since it’s winter holiday, our hearts are bound together. We care about each student and parent. Thus, we set up a working group to prevent covid-19 on campus, launched precaution and response plans, altered course arrangement during pandemic and provided our students with efficient counseling.

 1. Response Plan against the Pandemic: We are on the move.

After the pandemic outbreak, we immediately implemented relevant measures, including closed-off management of the campus, mechanism of health observation and report that covers all members in school, suggestion that students learn prevention knowledge and take correct protective measures with their families.

On Jan 21st, the school issued the MBS Prevention and Response Plan for Covid-19 version 1.0 to all staff, students and their parents; From Jan 28th, MBS Campus Disinfection Work Plan against Covid-19 has been formulated and implemented; On Jan 29th, MBS Remote Teaching Scheme was published; From Jan 31st, the school has launched daily report system of students’ health status; On Feb 3rd, MBS issued a letter to parents; On Feb 6th, MBS Remote Teaching Scheme and Response Plan of Epidemic Prevention version 2.0 was launched; On Feb 17th, the first class of a new semester begun, and the school has set up counseling courses accordingly.

2. Wellness Counseling for Students

Public health emergency will pose an impact to both people’s physical and mental health. On February 17th, our first class for the new semester begun online. The Speech by Head of School and other course contents of that day all focused on the pandemic.

“In the face of this disaster, we should see more of the glory of human nature. We have seen a lot of horrible things and heard much of the rumors during the pandemic, however, we are still touched by the hardworking medical staff, the magnificent hospitals of Leishenshan and Huoshenshan, the medical supplies donated by the selfless people all over the world…those ignited the hope in our hearts in the darkness.”

The Eudemonics of Fighting against the COVID-19 was included into the First Classes. The reason why we launched classes on covid-19 was because we know that it’s about responsibility, the relationship between nature and life, science and reason, and also, our study and life. On this psychology class, students shared their ideas about virus, as well as the reflections on the relationship of human, nature and society.

"Dont be afraid! We are with you! - Zhang Jiarong

Karen Zhang from Grade 8 Class 1 created a painting about fighting the pandemic. The characters in the painting well performed their respective duties, treating the sick and saving the people, building the hospitals, transporting the materials…it truly reflected China fighting the pandemic with everyone contributing his part.

Everyone was enthusiastic, showing a positive attitude. We learned from each other, helped each other, and disciplined ourselves when learning and staying at home.

 3. Wishes for the New Semester

Zhang Xiao, mentor of Grade 7 Class 1 and Psychology teacher, recalled that students expressed their feelings of security instead of panic though being “confined” at home, as well as their wishes to return to school to meet each other.

The school has launched closed-off management and been massively disinfected for multiple times before the students came back to the campus to ensure a safe, healthy and secure environment in which the students and faculty can live and learn. We believe that soon we will win the fight against the pandemic and get back to our normal life.

With our concerted efforts, we believe, the epidemic will pass, and we will meet each other together at MBS again soon.
